Dr Fran Smith

Director

Dr Fran Smith is a Counselling Psychologist with over 15 years of experience in the field. She has worked as a therapist, trainer, supervisor, researcher and lecturer in a variety of NHS and private settings. She is also a published author.


Fran has worked with individuals (children, adolescents, young adults and older adults), with couples, and has also facilitated group work. In every instance she takes care to provide a collaborative and compassionate space that is focused specifically on the needs of the client(s). She is an advocate of dynamic and time limited therapy and is happy to work flexibly, providing sessions online as well as in person.

Fran is trained in and has worked with a variety of therapeutic models, but primarily draws from Cognitive Behavioural, Mindfulness-based, Compassion Focused and Acceptance and Commitment therapy models. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, the British Psychological Society and the Association for Contextual and Behavioural Science.


As well as offering services to a broad spectrum of clients with a variety of presenting problems Fran specialises in working with those adjusting to living with acute and chronic health problems. She co-authored the book Coping with the Psychological Effects of Illness: Strategies to manage anxiety and depression.
