Dr Sam Proudman
Counselling Psychologist
Dr Sam Proudman is a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist. She has worked psychologically across a number of settings with both adults and couples, within the NHS, independent, and education sectors. Sam currently also holds a role in an NHS adult community mental health team
Sam believes in working alongside people to help them find the best versions of themselves. She offers a warm, genuine and accepting space where you can bring all of yourself without judgement.
She has particular expertise in working with trauma underpinned by the therapeutic relationship. Sam uses compassion and curiosity as the catalyst to support understanding in how you have come to feel the way you do. She believes that what we think, feel and do are all impacted by what we have experienced, and make sense in our unique context. When we understand this, we have the power to update the narratives that keep us stuck.
Sam works integratively, drawing from doctoral training and further training in a number of psychological models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Flash Technique, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She is a qualified EMDR and Flash therapist.
She studied psychology and psychological therapies at the University to St Andrews, City university, London, and UCL. Sam has also undertaken postgraduate study in education at the University of Cambridge.
Sam works online and can be available for prearranged face to face introductory sessions
